When I played 2 and then replayed 1 and realized Yae Kurosawa from 2 who ran away from "All gods village" was the woman who hung herself in 1, I was blown away. What makes 2 and 1 so good on replay is piecing the story together. I love running through the ghost list, reading how the ghosts are each reliving their suffering from the night of "the repentance". There is a real sadness to it and realness to it that I didn't quite get with 1.
I absolutely just adore the atmosphere and the story of 2. Having said that, 2 is tied with 3 for my favorite in the franchise. A haunted town he found more terrifying than a massive haunted mansion). I found 2 a breeze and he found it terrifying (he was the opposite to me. But my cousin, he loved it, loved the puzzles and wasn't scared in the slightest. When I first played 1, I found it terrifying (cause I find haunted mansions terrifying). I find Project Zero 1 and 3 to be absolutely terrifying. The Fatal Frame/Project Zero series is a interesting one cause it affects everyone differently depending on what scares them or not. (I actually though spirit camera was pretty cool, even if it's mechanically flawed, and a bit tedious)Īnd I still enjoyed my time with ff2, and will play it again on hard, but the first game left a much bigger impression on me. I try to let fan base hype drive my experience, While in FF2, it flet more like aimless wandering were learning about the past was more forced on your characters. I also preferred how the first game felt more like your character felt that they were actively trying to solve a mystery, and uncover clues. It definitely improved on the first mechanically, but I found the first game far more engaging. I'd even go a step further and mention that while the story was interesting, if feel it felt way too similar to Fatal Frame 1. The first game just felt so special! (played it for the first time a few months ago)Īfter looking up the series, everyone kept hyping up ff2, but I felt that they just played it waaay to safe.Įasier fighter, more ammo, tons of items, simpler story (imo), etc But I really do end up finding myself liking the first game more than Fatal Frame 2. The game is a lot more polished than the first in general, and I still had a great time. Overall even though it may sound like I didn't enjoy the game that much, I actually did.
